Turf Backing Options

Opting for quality materials with an additional backing layer underneath the turf provides clients with added protection, better water absorption, and overall expands the life of your installation. Below we'll walk through the different types of backing our featured products offer, and when they're used.

Perforated Drain Mat

  • 4' x 50' (50 lb. each)
  • 0.4 in. thick.
  • Flow of 21 gallons per minute per foot width.
  • Creates open-air space voids that allow urine and other liquids to be washed down through the turf and infill.
  • Used for pet turf systems.
  • Made in the USA.

Smart Pad Basic

  • 55 mm thick.
  • Qualifies for LEED Credits.
  • Resistant to mold and chemicals.
  • Successfully tested to comply with CA Prop 65.
  • Long Lifespan - Remains in place 2 to 3 turf life cycles.
  • Used on playgrounds, public spaces, and lawns.
  • Made in the USA.

Smart Pad Advanced

  • 50 mm thick.
  • 100% recyclable - carries the coveted Cradle to Cradle Certification.
  • Used on playgrounds, public spaces, and lawns.
  • Includes all smart pad basic features plus the following:
    • Patented lightweight interlocking panel system, easy to handle and fast to install.
    • Computer monitored molding manufacturing process guarantees dimensional and density consistency.
    • Thermal insulation and drainage layer that can be installed over permeable/impermeable bases, eliminating the cost of frost heave.

Putt Pad

  • 50oz Polyurethane.
  • Woven polypropylene backing.
  • Thickness 0.25".
  • Density 18 lbs per sq. ft.
  • Made in the USA.
  • Putting Green pad underlayment. Offers superior dimensional stability that greatly reduces expansion and contraction preventing wrinkles and protect seams.
  • Putt pad supports longer shots, helps deaden the ball, and serves great for chipping.
